Week 11: Tarheeb Still, Maryland
/University of Maryland defensive back Tarheeb Still has been named the DC Touchdown Club Washington Metro College Football Player of the Week after helping the Terrapins beat Nebraska, 13-10, this past Saturday to become bowl eligible for the third consecutive season.
Still, a senior who has made 37 career starts, made a team-high seven tackles and intercepted a pair of passes, including one in the end zone with the game tied late in the fourth quarter that ended a Nebraska drive deep into Maryland territory. The Terrapins subsequently drove for the game-winning field goal as time expired.
It was the second time this season that Still intercepted two passes in a game and part of a defensive effort that forced five turnovers and limited Nebraska to 10 points.
Still also was named the Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
“I can’t give enough credit to our defense,” Maryland Coach Michael Locksley said. “They created a bunch of turnovers. They kept playing with their back against the wall. When we needed to get the ball back, they got us the ball back.”
